“that is the only purpose grand enough for a human life. Not just to love but to persist in love.”       – the Secret Life of Bees

It’s been eleven years. How do you speak of the things you live together in that time? I can’t give voice to letting down every defense and building walls so high you think there’s no way through. There are no words for a love so deep and true that death itself does not destroy it. No spelling out all the things you like and the bits that drive you crazy. How does any of that stand in the face of life tossed straight and hard at you, when you still walk hand in hand?

Our days and arms are filled with them, our little ones, our bodies the glue that fragile holds this all together. Our God, He holds us all together and we’ll hold out for summer, we’ll wait for the summer. Because there is a promised land and on the way there is beauty enough

I Love you SMUV

I started making videos for our anniversary last year. And I hope to make many more. Today also marks the one year anniversary of my incredible time with wonderful people at the  Don’t Give Up Project .

As I was sitting here thinking of something i can say to you to let you know how great it was, the video ended and I hear Maverik say… “that was great”.

    So that’s it.

Here are some favorites from a family session recently where we played and explored til the very last light

This sweet family just returned to the States after a few years abroad. Their wonder and joy was so vivid, and made for such a lovely evening together. I took some video and time lapse images, so as a little surprise I threw together a quick film clip of our time together also.

I shot this roll when we visited a lighthouse for Mother’s Day. It was magic and the kids were stoked, don’t let their “serious” faces fool you. I never ask them to smile and even if they are having a blast, they put on a manly “serious” face for pictures. It cracks me up! I love letting them be them and watching how they explore and discover.

This is the first roll that Jesse developed for me that I have been able to scan the same day somewhat successfully. I have a lot to learn but I was so stoked to see these processed in an afternoon at home, and up on the blog the next morning.
